Salt at the Ritz-Carlton
The fine-dining room at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island on the island's south end — the most formal restaurant on Amelia Island, inside the resort rather than in a walkable district.
The South End beach park
Nassau County's largest south-end beach park, off Fletcher Avenue near Sadler Road's southern reach. Big free lot, restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic pavilions and a long boardwalk over the dunes — the south end's answer to Main Beach, usually with more room.
Peters Point is the beach to aim for when Main Beach is full and you would rather not fight for a space.
It is a Nassau County park rather than a city one, on the ocean side of Fletcher Avenue on the island's south end. The lot is large and free, there is a substantial dune boardwalk, and the amenities — restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic pavilions — are close to the sand.
Wide, firm, and noticeably less crowded than the Fernandina accesses even in season, because the parking is spread across a bigger footprint and the surrounding development is residential rather than commercial. The slope is gentle and the sand is the same fine, packed grey-gold as the rest of the island.
This is also one of the accesses used for beach driving on Amelia Island — a permitted activity at designated ramps only, with rules on tyre pressure, speed and where you may park. Do not assume you can drive on because you see tracks; check the current Nassau County rules first.
Restrooms and rinse showers are on site. Pavilions are first-come in normal use and reservable for events through the county. There is no food at the park itself — the nearest options are the Amelia Island Plantation and Palmetto Walk shops, a short drive south, or back up Sadler Road toward town.
Shade is limited to the pavilions, so bring an umbrella. There are no lifeguards to rely on. Sea turtle nesting season runs roughly May through October on this coast, which is why lights, dogs and holes in the sand all matter more than they look — fill your holes, leash your dog, and keep off marked nests.
From downtown Fernandina Beach it is about ten minutes: south on 8th Street to Sadler Road, east to Fletcher Avenue, then south. From the Omni or the Ritz-Carlton it is a five-minute drive north.
