Submit an event
Key facts
Send us the event name, date, venue address, organiser and a link to the organiser's own page. Listings are free and cannot be bought. We publish no date we have not confirmed against the organiser, because a wrong date is worse than a missing one.
What we publish
Two different things, with two different bars:
Dated events. A specific date, at a specific place, this year. We publish these only once the organiser has confirmed the date. Our events calendar currently holds no unconfirmed dates, which is deliberate: a wrong date is worse than a missing one.
Annual festivals. Recurring events with an evergreen page — the Shrimp Festival, Dickens on Centre, the Concours. Those pages exist year-round and say the typical month. They do not state this year's dates until the organiser has confirmed them.
What to send
Email hello@thingstodoinameliaisland.com with:
- Event name.
- Date and start time, and the end time if there is one.
- Venue name and street address. "Downtown" is not an address.
- Who is organising it, and a link to their own page for the event. This is the thing that lets us verify the date, so it matters more than the description.
- Admission — free, ticketed, or a price. If it is ticketed, the ticket link.
- One or two sentences on what it actually is. We write our own summary, so send facts rather than copy.
- Accessibility, if you know it: parking, seating, step-free access, whether it is on grass or sand.
Send it as far ahead as you can. A week is not much use to someone planning a trip.
What we do with it
We check the date against the organiser's own page, write our own 40-to-70-word summary, and publish with a link to you. We never republish an organiser's description as our own copy.
If we cannot confirm the date from a source of yours, the event stays unpublished. That is not a judgement about the event — it is the same rule that applies to everything else on this site.
Recurring weekly and monthly things
Markets, art walks, live music nights and similar: send us the pattern ("first Friday, 5pm to 8pm, Centre Street") plus a link, and we will treat it as a recurring listing rather than a stream of individual dates.
Cancellations and changes
Tell us immediately. A cancelled event still showing on a guide is the single most annoying thing a visitor can hit, and it is the one correction we will drop everything for. Same for a venue change or a weather postponement.
What we will not do
- Publish a date we cannot confirm.
- Republish your press release as editorial copy.
- Sell a calendar placement. Event listings are free and not for sale. If you want paid promotion, that is advertise, and it is labelled as sponsored.
- Add ratings or "top event" badges. We publish no ratings on this site.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I get my event on this Amelia Island guide?
- Email hello@thingstodoinameliaisland.com with the event name, date and time, venue address, organiser, admission and a link to the organiser's own page for the event. Listings are free. We publish once we can confirm the date from your own source.
- Why is my event not showing?
- Almost always because we could not confirm the date against the organiser’s own page. We do not publish unconfirmed dates. Send us a link and we will publish it.
- Can I pay to feature an event?
- Event listings are free and are not for sale. Paid promotion exists separately and is labelled as sponsored wherever it appears. It does not affect the calendar.
