Corrections
Key facts
Send us anything on this site that is wrong, out of date, or unsourced — a closed business first of all. A primary source gets it fixed the same day. We do not add ratings, and we do not remove accurate facts because they are unflattering.
What we want to hear about
Anything on this site that is wrong, out of date, or missing a source. In rough order of how much we want it:
- A business that has closed, moved or changed hands. This is the most damaging kind of error a guide can carry, and the hardest for us to spot from here.
- Wrong contact details — an address, a telephone number, a website.
- A rule that has changed — parking, dogs, beach driving, a park closure, a fee.
- A factual claim you can disprove — a date, a distance, a name, a piece of history.
- An accessibility barrier. Those are bugs, not feature requests.
What gets fixed fastest
A primary source. If you can point at the business's own page, a city or county notice, a park alert or an agency publication, we can verify it and fix the page the same day. Without one, the correction joins the verification queue and waits for someone to check it — which is slower, and fair enough.
What we will not change
- A request to add a rating or a review score. We do not publish them, ours or anyone else's, anywhere on this site.
- A request to remove an accurate fact because it is unflattering.
- A request to move a listing up a page without a reason a reader would care about. If you want a paid placement, that is advertise, and it is labelled.
How to send one
Email hello@thingstodoinameliaisland.com. Include the page URL, what is wrong, what it should say, and a source if you have one. You do not need to be polite about it.
If you own or run the business in question, say so — we treat the operator as the primary source for their own contact details and hours.
What happens next
We check it, fix it, and move the page's visible last updated date. Where the correction changes a fact we had marked as confirmed, we also update the record's verification date so the change is traceable.
We do not currently publish a public corrections log. If this site ever carries an error serious enough to need one, it will get one.
What we already know is unconfirmed
We label our own gaps rather than hiding them. 62 records on this site currently carry an "unconfirmed details" notice, meaning we have published what we have but have not checked every field against a primary source. Hours and prices are unconfirmed across the whole site — we hold none, so we publish none.
