Editorial policy
Key facts
We publish no ratings or review scores of our own and never republish anyone else's. Every record carries a verified flag, a verification date and a primary source, and unconfirmed details are labelled rather than guessed. Sponsored and publisher-owned listings always carry a visible label.
Who publishes this site
thingstodoinameliaisland.com is published by Grow Wild Agency Inc., a Florida corporation. The editor is Kaden Ewald. We are an independent publisher — not the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, not a chamber of commerce, and not affiliated with any resort, restaurant or tour operator except where a page says so explicitly.
What we will not publish
Ratings and review scores of our own. We do not score businesses out of five, we do not rank by star count, and there is no aggregate rating in this site's structured data anywhere. A build check enforces it: if a rating ever appears in our schema markup, the build fails rather than shipping.
Other people's reviews. We do not scrape, aggregate or republish reviews from Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp or anywhere else.
Superlatives without a source. No "best in Florida", no "number one", no "voted best" unless a named third party said it and we can point at them.
Hours and prices we have not confirmed. This is the discipline that matters most on a travel site: a wrong opening time sends someone to a locked door. Where we have not confirmed hours, an address, a phone number or a price band, the page says unconfirmed and the field is left empty rather than filled with a guess.
Nightly hotel rates. They change daily. Any figure we published would be wrong before you read it.
How verification works
Every record in our data carries three fields: a verified flag, a verification date, and a source URL.
A record is marked verified only when a human has checked it against a primary source — the business's own site or a phone call, the City of Fernandina Beach, Nassau County, Florida State Parks, NOAA, the National Weather Service, or an event's own organiser. The URL used goes in the source field; the date goes in the verification date, which is the date shown at the top of the page.
Until then the page carries a visible unconfirmed notice. We would rather show you the gap than paper over it.
This guide is being built in public, so at present a large share of listings are unconfirmed. That share will shrink. The labelling will not.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us. We fix it in the page and the last-updated date moves. Email hello@thingstodoinameliaisland.com.
Advertising, sponsorship and disclosure
Editorial placement is not for sale. Being listed, being included in a ranked list, and where a listing sits in that list are editorial decisions and cannot be bought.
Where a listing is sponsored, it carries a visible Sponsored label on the listing itself, on every hub it appears on, and in the underlying data. Where a business is owned by or connected to the publisher, it carries a visible Owned by the publisher label in the same places.
We may use affiliate links. Where we do, they are marked, and they do not affect whether or where something is listed.
See our advertising page for what is actually available.
Photography
Photographs are credited where a credit exists. Pages still using a clearly-labelled placeholder graphic are tracked in the build documentation and are being replaced with original photography. We do not use images we do not have the right to use, and we do not present a stock photograph as an image of a specific place.
AI and automation
We use automation to gather candidate material — event feeds, official calendars, NOAA and National Weather Service data — and to draft. Nothing publishes without a human reviewing it. Anything pulled from a feed is tagged with the feed it came from and stays unconfirmed until a person checks it.
Our llms.txt and llms-full.txt files, and our JSON endpoints, carry the same claims as the HTML. We do not write anything into a machine-readable surface that we would not put on the page.
Our sister site
We also publish Things to Do in Fernandina Beach, which covers downtown Fernandina Beach in more depth. The two sites share ownership and a design language. Where a topic is covered fully there, we keep the island-level version here short and link across with disclosure rather than duplicating it.
Accessibility
The publisher runs an accessibility practice, so this site is held to WCAG 2.2 AA: contrast ratios, visible focus states, a skip link, semantic landmarks, keyboard operability, and respect for reduced-motion preferences. Comparison tables are rendered server-side so they work with JavaScript disabled. If you hit a barrier, email us — that is a bug and we will treat it as one.

Frequently asked questions
- Why do so many listings say “unconfirmed”?
- Because we have not yet checked those details against a primary source, and we label the gap rather than filling it with a guess. This guide is being built in public and that share will shrink over time.
- Do you publish ratings or review scores?
- No. We publish none of our own and never republish anyone else’s. A build check fails the site if a rating appears in our structured data.
- Can a business pay to be listed on this site?
- No. Editorial placement is not for sale. Sponsorship is available and always carries a visible Sponsored label on the listing and in the data.
