Mini golf earns its own page here for one practical reason: from June to September this island gets a thunderstorm most afternoons, and the question "what now" comes up daily.
Three courses
Three adventure-golf courses operate on and around the island, listed below with the address, telephone number and official website we confirmed on 10 September 2026. One is on the Omni resort grounds; the others are in town.
We publish no prices and no opening hours for any of them, because we have confirmed none. Ring before you drive over — this is exactly the category where seasonal hours catch people out.
Not the same as golf here
Worth saying plainly, because our own data had it wrong until we checked: adventure golf and championship golf are different things at different ends of the island. The island's real courses are concentrated at the south end and on the mainland — see golf. If you are booking a round, that is the page.
What it is good for
The afternoon storm. June to September average 4.96″ to 7.19″ a month across only about nine or ten wet days, so the rain is a hard hour rather than an all-day event. Mini golf is a good way to spend that hour with children who have been on the beach all morning. See weather by month.
The evening. July averages 90.7°F, and the sensible shape of a summer day here is beach in the morning, indoors or shaded in the afternoon, out again in the evening.
Mixed ages. It is one of the few things a six-year-old and a fifteen-year-old will both do without complaint — see Amelia Island with teenagers and with toddlers.
The other wet-afternoon options
Mini golf is not the only answer. The Amelia Island Museum of History, the pinball museum, the downtown bookshops and a long lunch all work — rainy day on Amelia Island collects them.
And if the storm has passed, remember the beach is at its best on a low tide regardless of the hour: a 6 to 7.4 ft range exposes hundreds of yards of hard sand and the wadeable sandbars. Check the tide before you write the day off.
