What this feed carries
Short, dated items about things that change on Amelia Island: beach and park closures, new restaurant openings and closings, festival date announcements, storm and hurricane impacts, construction affecting parking or access, and sea turtle and right whale season notices.
What it does not carry
We do not republish other outlets' articles. Each item here is our own summary — typically forty to seventy words — plus a link to the original and, where we can add it, the local context a visitor needs: which beach access this actually affects, whether the restaurant you booked is the one that closed, what the parking looks like that weekend.
We do not run wire copy, press releases as news, or anything we have not read at the source.
Where the items come from
Our source list is published in full in our data-sources documentation. It covers the local outlets, the City of Fernandina Beach, Nassau County, Florida State Parks, the National Weather Service Jacksonville office and NOAA. Anything time-critical about the beach — flags, closures, storms — should always be checked against the primary source as well; a static site can be hours behind a hurricane.
The feed is not running yet
This page is the shell. The pipeline that will populate it is Phase 3 work: a scheduled job that collects candidate items, drafts summaries, and opens a pull request for a human to review before anything publishes. Nothing goes live here without a person approving it, which is the point.
