Amelia Island webcams
Key facts
There is no camera embedded on this page: we do not use a third party's stream without written permission. Instead, the live NOAA buoy, tide and water-temperature data that answers the same question — is it worth the drive right now?
There is no live camera on this page, and we would rather say so than embed someone else's stream without asking. Every camera pointed at this island belongs to a resort, a restaurant or a civic body, and embedding one without written permission and an agreed credit is not something we do.
What we can give you instead is the data those cameras are a proxy for — measured, sourced and updated every build.
Live cameras
None yet. This section stays empty until a camera owner has given us written permission and an attribution we can honour. If that is you, tell us about your camera.
What a camera would actually tell you
People search for a beach webcam to answer one of four questions. Three of them have a better answer than a low-resolution frame:
| What you want to know | Better source |
|---|---|
| Is the surf up? | Surf report — wave height, period and direction from NOAA buoy 41112, 17 km offshore |
| Is the tide in or out? | Tides — NOAA predictions from station 8720030, on the island |
| Is it warm enough to swim? | Water temperature — monthly means and the live buoy reading |
| How busy is the car park? | A camera. Genuinely — nothing else answers this |
Where the cameras actually are
Cameras on this island are operated by the businesses and bodies that own the view: the resorts at the south end, a handful of restaurants and bars on the beach, and the tourism bureau's own page. We are not going to list a specific camera, its URL or what it shows until we have confirmed it is still running and have permission to point at it — a dead webcam link is the single most annoying result on this kind of search, and there are plenty of those already.
If you own or operate a camera on Amelia Island and would like it listed here with a credit and a link back, get in touch. That is a genuine offer, not a formality: a working set of cams with proper attribution would make this page the most useful one on the site.
Sunrise and sunset, which is what most people are looking for
Amelia Island faces east. The sunrise is the beach event; the sunset happens over the Amelia River and the marsh on the west side, best seen from downtown, the marina or one of the western creek overlooks. Our beach conditions page computes today's sunrise and sunset locally rather than fetching them, so those two times are always right even when every feed is down.

Frequently asked questions
- Is there an Amelia Island beach webcam?
- Several businesses and civic bodies operate cameras on the island, but we do not embed or link to a specific stream here. Embedding a third party's camera needs their written permission and an agreed credit, and a link to a camera we have not verified is still running is worse than no link. For live conditions, our surf report and tide pages pull directly from NOAA.
- How can I see what the beach looks like right now?
- Use the measured data: NOAA buoy 41112 reports wave height, period and water temperature roughly every half hour, and NOAA station 8720030 on the island publishes today's tide predictions. Together those tell you more about whether it is worth the drive than a single camera angle does.
- Does Amelia Island face the sunrise or the sunset?
- The beach faces east, so the sunrise is over the Atlantic. Sunset is over the Amelia River on the west side of the island — downtown Fernandina Beach, the marina and the marsh overlooks are where to watch it.
